The Stand is fully local-first. Your sit logs, stand profiles, harvest records, and photos are stored only on your device — the same as photos in your camera roll. We do not collect, transmit, or have access to any of this data.
Accounts
The Stand does not require an account. There is nothing to sign up for and no profile of you anywhere.
Usage metrics
The app sends a small set of anonymous counters so we can see which parts of it get used — that a sit was logged, or that the app was opened. Never what was in it.
No hunting data leaves your device. Not stand locations, not species, not harvest details, not weights or scores, not your notes, and not your photos.
Each counter carries a random identifier created when you install the app. It is not tied to you, your phone, or any account, and it is discarded if you delete the app. Counters record the day something happened, never the time, so they cannot be used to reconstruct when you were sitting.
There is no third-party analytics service and no advertising network. The counters go only to The Stand's own server.
Location
Location is optional, and used for three things: dropping a stand pin on the map, auto-filling the weather for a sit, and showing the wind forecast on your stand map. Both weather lookups send your phone's current coordinates to Open-Meteo, a third-party weather service. Those requests are the only times your location leaves your device.
Your coordinates are not stored on any server we run, and they are never attached to a usage counter. Your stand locations are never sent anywhere: sunrise, sunset and shadows are worked out on your phone, and the wind forecast uses your phone's position, not your stands'. The satellite imagery on the map comes from Apple Maps, which, like any map, loads the area you are looking at; the app sends Apple no stand names, pins or logs. Where you hunt is recorded nowhere but your own phone.
Deny the permission and the app carries on as normal — the weather fields simply stay open for you to fill in yourself.
This policy will be revised as new features ship — including AI season analysis and social sharing features planned for future updates — to accurately reflect what data, if any, leaves your device at that time.
